Congratulations to Deangelo Fernandez, 7th grade, and Kaden Gomez, 8th grade for winning the chess challenge against the Mayor!

On the 26th of October, the Town of Miami Lakes held their 2nd Annual Mayor’s
Chess Challenge. It took place at Town Hall. This event allowed students to
test their chess skills with the Mayor, Manny Cid, and council members. Mater
Lakes Academy sent seven students to participate at this event under the
direction of MLA’s chess coach, Michael Saunders. We are proud to announce that
two of our students won the challenge against the Mayor of Miami Lakes. The
winners are Deangelo Fernandez, 7th grade, and Kaden Gomez, 8th

luck in upcoming tournaments.
