Algebra II (Period 6)

Location: 234

Students in Algebra II expand their knowledge of functions, building on algebraic and geometric concepts. They work with rational and exponential expressions, as well as polynomial, exponential, and logarithmic functions. The course develops advanced algebra skills such as systems of equations, advanced polynomials and imaginary and complex numbers. Building on the student’s previous work with functions, and on their work with trigonometric ratios and circles in Geometry, they now use the coordinate plane to extend trigonometry to model periodic phenomena. Building also on probability concepts, students will be able to expand their ability in collecting and interpreting data and in computing and interpreting theoretical and experimental probabilities for different types of events.
As students encounter more and more varied mathematical expressions and functions, general principles from Algebra 1 remain relevant, unifying the material.
